Clotrimazole Vaginal Tablet
Clotrimazole vaginal tablets contain clotrimazole, an antifungal medicine used to treat vaginal thrush (vaginal candidiasis), a common infection caused by an overgrowth of Candida yeast. The medicine works directly in the vagina to stop the growth of the fungi causing the infection, helping relieve symptoms such as itching, soreness and unusual discharge. In the UK, clotrimazole vaginal tablets are available from pharmacies without a prescription, and the tablet is usually inserted into the vagina at bedtime for convenient treatment.

How To Use
Adults and children aged 16 and over: Use one vaginal tablet at night.
Wash your hands before and after using the tablet.
Remove the applicator from the packaging.
Take the tablet out of its foil and place it into the end of the applicator.
Gently squeeze the applicator so the tablet is held securely in place.
Lie on your back with your knees slightly bent. Gently insert the applicator into your vagina as far as is comfortable.
Slowly press the plunger to release the tablet into the vagina.
Carefully remove the applicator and dispose of it safely.
The tablet dissolves inside the vagina, so you may notice some white, chalky residue afterwards. This is normal and does not mean the treatment has failed. If you notice pieces of undissolved tablet, speak to a pharmacist or doctor.
Thrush symptoms should start to improve within 3 days.
If you have no improvement after 7 days, speak to your doctor.
If your thrush comes back after 7 days, you may use one further treatment.
If you have thrush more than twice in 6 months, speak to your doctor.

You or your partner have ever had a sexually transmitted infection (STI).
You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
You are under 16 or over 60 years old.
You have previously had an allergic reaction to clotrimazole or other vaginal antifungal medicines.
You have unusual symptoms such as abnormal or blood-stained vaginal bleeding, sores or blisters, lower abdominal pain, pain when passing urine, fever or chills, nausea or vomiting, diarrhoea, or foul-smelling vaginal discharge. These symptoms may mean that clotrimazole is not the right treatment.
You take any medicines, herbal remedies or supplements you are taking. In particular, tell them if you take tacrolimus or sirolimus, which are medicines used to prevent organ transplant rejection.
Clotrimazole vaginal tablets may temporarily reduce the effectiveness of latex condoms and diaphragms. Use an alternative method of contraception for at least 5 days after treatment.
While using this medicine, do not use tampons, vaginal washes, douches, spermicides or other vaginal products. It is also best to avoid vaginal sex while you have thrush and during treatment, as your partner may become infected.
