Canesten Thrush Internal Vaginal Cream
Canesten Thrush Internal Vaginal Cream is a convenient treatment designed to relieve the symptoms of vaginal thrush and treat the underlying fungal infection. It contains clotrimazole, an antifungal medicine that works directly against the fungus responsible for thrush.Vaginal thrush is a common infection caused by an overgrowth of Candida yeast. It can cause uncomfortable symptoms such as itching, irritation, soreness and an unusual white vaginal discharge. Canesten Thrush Internal Vaginal Cream is applied directly inside the vagina, allowing the active ingredient to work where it is needed.

How to Use
Insert the cream as high as is comfortably possible into the vagina, preferably before going to bed.
Wash your hands before removing the foil from the blister pack and again after using the applicator.
Using the applicator
Remove the applicator from its packaging.
Keep the cap in place and insert the tip of plunger A into applicator B, approximately 1 cm.
Twist and pull to remove cap C.
Take care not to press the plunger further before inserting the applicator, as this may cause cream to be wasted.
Carefully insert the applicator as deeply as is comfortable into the vagina. This may be easier while lying on your back with your knees bent.
Hold the applicator in place and slowly press the plunger until it stops. This releases the pre-measured dose of cream into the vagina.
Gently remove the applicator after use.
Dispose of the applicator safely and do not flush the applicator down the toilet.
After using the cream:
A slight vaginal discharge after using the cream is common.
Wearing a panty liner may help manage any discharge.
A small amount of discharge does not mean that the treatment has been unsuccessful.
Thrush symptoms should normally improve within three days of treatment.
If there is no improvement after seven days, speak to your doctor.
If the infection returns after seven days, you may use one further treatment.
If you experience more than two thrush infections within six months, consult your doctor.
Always read the patient information leaflet and follow the instructions on the product packaging before use.
Ingredients
Active Ingredient: Clotrimazole
Other Ingredients: benzyl alcohol, polysorbate 60, sorbitan stearate, cetostearyl alcohol, isopropyl myristrate, cetyl palmitate and purified water.
Warnings
For vaginal use only. Do not swallow Canesten Thrush Internal Cream.
Do not use this product if you are allergic to clotrimazole or any of its ingredients.
If this is your first episode of vaginal thrush, speak to a doctor or pharmacist before using the treatment.
Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are breastfeeding before use.
Speak to a healthcare professional if you experience more than two thrush infections within six months.
Speak to your doctor if you are under 16 or over 60.
If your symptoms do not improve within 7 days, consult your doctor.
Stop using the product and seek medical advice if you experience severe irritation, swelling, rash or an allergic reaction.
Consult a doctor if you have abnormal vaginal bleeding, blood-stained discharge, sores or blisters, lower abdominal pain, pain or difficulty passing urine, fever or chills, nausea, or foul-smelling vaginal discharge.
Avoid using tampons, vaginal douches, spermicides or other vaginal products while using the treatment.
Canesten creams may reduce the effectiveness of latex contraceptives, such as condoms and diaphragms. An alternative method of contraception should be used for at least 5 days after treatment.
Storage
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the ‘EXP’ date shown on the pack.
Store below 25ºC. Protect from sunlight.
