Piriton Tablets are an effective antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of hay fever and other allergies. They help reduce sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, and skin reactions. Suitable for adults and children aged 6 years and over.
Piriton Tablets can be used to treat allergy symptoms caused by:
Hay fever (pollen)
Pet allergies
House dust mite allergies
Mould spore allergies
Nettle rash and hives
Skin allergies and dermatitis
Prickly heat and heat rash
Food, food additives, or medicine reactions
Insect bites and stings
Chickenpox itch relief
Adults and children 12 years and over : 1 tablet every 4–6 hours as needed; maximum 6 tablets in 24 hours.
Children 6–12 years: half a tablet every 4–6 hours as needed; maximum 3 tablets (6 half-tablets) in 24 hours.
Elderly: Check with a doctor first; may need a lower dose; maximum 3 tablets in 24 hours due to side effects risk.
Minimum 4 hours between doses
Do not take continuously for more than 14 days without medical advice
Not for children under 6 years
Do not exceed the recommended dose
Active Ingredient: Chlorphenamine Maleate 4 mg.
Other ingredients Lactose, maize starch, yellow iron oxide (E 172), magnesium stearate and water
Do not take Piriton if:
You’ve had an allergic reaction to antihistamines or any ingredients in the tablets
You’ve taken MAO inhibitors (for depression) in the last 2 weeks
You are already taking other antihistamines (including some cold and cough medicines)
Take special care / talk to a doctor first if you have:
High blood pressure or heart disease
Epilepsy
Glaucoma
Enlarged prostate
Liver or kidney disease
Long-term breathing conditions (asthma, bronchitis, bronchiectasis)
Important precautions:
Avoid alcohol (can increase drowsiness)
May cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision → avoid driving or machinery if affected
If you have sugar intolerance, check with your doctor before use
Other medicines:
Check with a doctor/pharmacist if taking prescription medicines, especially:
Phenytoin (epilepsy)
Medicines for anxiety or sleep
Pregnancy & breastfeeding:
Speak to a doctor before using if pregnant or breastfeeding
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the ‘EXP’ date shown on the pack.
Store below 25ºC. Protect from sunlight.
