Optrex Hayfever Relief Eye Drops are specially formulated to relieve the eye symptoms of hay fever, including itchy, red, sore and watery eyes. The active ingredient, sodium cromoglicate 2% w/v, helps prevent the release of substances that trigger allergic reactions, providing effective relief from seasonal pollen allergies.

Easy-to-use eye drop solution
Ideal for seasonal pollen allergies
Adults (including the elderly) and children over 6 years: Instill one or two drops, administered into each eye four times a day.
Children under 6 years: This medicine should not be used in children under 6 years of age
If your eye symptoms have not improved after using the eye drops for 2 days, you should contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
Wash your hands thoroughly.
Before using the bottle for the first time, check that the tamper-proof seal is intact. (A small gap between the cap and bottle is normal if it hasn't been opened.)
Remove the cap.
Tilt your head back.
Gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
Hold the bottle above your eye. Be careful not to let the tip touch your eye, eyelid, fingers, or any other surface.
Squeeze 1–2 drops into the pocket inside your lower eyelid.
Close your eye gently for about 1–2 minutes. Try not to blink or squeeze your eye tightly.
Wipe away any excess liquid with a clean tissue.
Replace the cap tightly as soon as you're finished.
If you need to treat the other eye, repeat the same steps.

Other ingredients: disodium edetate, benzalkonium chloride and water for injections.
Do not use this medicine if:
You or your child are allergic to sodium cromoglicate or any of the other ingredients.
Your child is under 6 years of age.
Your eye symptoms are caused by an allergy other than hay fever, such as allergies to pets, house dust mites, chemicals, or other environmental triggers.
Signs of an allergic reaction may include:
Skin rash
Difficulty breathing or swallowing
Swelling of the lips, face, tongue, or throat
Increased redness, itching, or swelling of the eyes or eyelids
If you are unsure whether this medicine is suitable, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using it.
Before using these eye drops
Only use this medicine if you are confident that your (or your child's) eye symptoms are caused by hay fever, or if hay fever has previously been diagnosed by a healthcare professional.
Your symptoms are likely to be caused by hay fever if:
Both eyes are affected
You also have a runny or blocked nose
Your vision is normal
Your symptoms occur during the hay fever season when pollen levels are high
Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine if:
Only one eye is affected
You do not have any nasal symptoms
Your vision is affected
Your symptoms occur outside the usual hay fever season
Your symptoms may be caused by another allergy, such as pets or house dust mites
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
Driving and using machines
Your vision may become temporarily blurred immediately after using the eye drops.
Do not drive, cycle, or operate machinery until your vision is clear again.
Contact lenses
This medicine contains benzalkonium chloride, which can be absorbed by soft contact lenses and may discolour them.
Remove soft contact lenses before using the eye drops.
Wait at least 15 minutes before putting your lenses back in.
Benzalkonium chloride may cause eye irritation, particularly if you have dry eyes or a condition affecting the cornea (the clear front surface of the eye).
If you experience unusual eye sensations, stinging, or pain after using these eye drops, contact your doctor.
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Discard any remaining solution after 4 weeks, even if the bottle is not empty.
Do not use this medicine after the ‘EXP’ date shown on the pack.
Store below 25ºC. Protect from sunlight.
