Benylin Mucus Cough Night is formulated to relieve a chesty, mucus-producing cough, ease congestion and support a more restful night's sleep. It contains diphenhydramine, an antihistamine that helps calm coughing, reduce nasal and chest secretions and promote sleep; guaifenesin, an expectorant that loosens mucus to make it easier to clear; and levomenthol, which provides a cooling sensation and helps relieve the feeling of congestion. Suitable for use at night when coughing and mucus are making it difficult to rest.

Dosage

Adults and children aged 12 years and over: Take two 5 ml spoonfuls four times a day OR Take two 5 ml spoonfuls at bedtime followed by two 5 ml spoonfuls every 6 hours, as required.

Do not take more than 4 doses (1 dose = two 5ml spoonfuls) in 24 hours.

Ingredients

Active Ingredients: 14 mg Diphenhydramine hydrochloride, 100 mg Guaifenesin and 1.1 mg Levomenthol.

Other ingredients: Liquid glucose, sucrose, ethanol, glycerol, sodium citrate, saccharin sodium, citric acid monohydrate, sodium benzoate (E211), caramel (E150), raspberry essence, natural sweetness enhancer, carbomer, Ponceau 4R (E124) and water.

Warnings

Do not use Benylin Mucus Cough Night if:

You are allergic to diphenhydramine, guaifenesin, levomenthol or any other ingredient.
You are taking, or have taken within the last 2 weeks, MAOIs for depression.
You are taking any other cough or cold medicine.

Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before use if:

You have liver or kidney problems, prostate problems or glaucoma.
You have a long-lasting or recurring cough, particularly if it is caused by asthma or produces a lot of phlegm.
You have emphysema or chronic bronchitis.
Your cough is accompanied by a fever, rash or persistent headache.
You take medicines for anxiety or mood disorders, strong painkillers, sleeping tablets, sedatives, muscle relaxants, antihistamines, epilepsy, nausea or stomach problems.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
May cause drowsiness: Do not drive, cycle or operate machinery if you feel sleepy or affected.
Avoid alcohol: Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine.

Storage

Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

Do not use this medicine after the ‘EXP’ date shown on the pack.

Store below 25ºC. Protect from sunlight.
