Benylin Chesty Cough Original

Adults and children aged 12 years and over: Take two 5 ml spoonfuls four times a day.

Do not take more than 4 doses in 24 hours.

Active ingredients: 14 mg Diphenhydramine hydrochloride and 2 mg Levomenthol in a 5ml dose.

Other Ingredients: Liquid glucose, sucrose, ethanol, glycerol, sodium citrate, saccharin sodium, citric acid monohydrate, sodium benzoate (E211), ammonium chloride, caramel T12 (E150), raspberry flavour, carbomer, Ponceau 4R (E124) and water.

Do not use Benylin Chesty Coughs Original if:

• You are allergic to diphenhydramine, levomenthol, or any of the ingredients.

• You have had a cough for several weeks, particularly if it may be related to asthma or produces a lot of phlegm.

• You are taking, or have taken within the last 14 days, medicines known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) for depression.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before use if:

• You have liver or kidney problems.

• You have asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, or a persistent cough that produces phlegm.

• You have difficulty passing urine or have prostate problems.

• You may have narrow-angle glaucoma.

• You drink alcohol.

• You have an intolerance to certain sugars.

• You are using other medicines containing diphenhydramine, including creams, ointments or gels.

• You take other medicines such as opioid painkillers, antidepressants, anticholinergic medicines, tranquillisers, sleeping tablets or antipsychotics.

• If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby.

• This medicine may cause drowsiness. If you feel drowsy, do not drive or operate machinery.

• Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine.

Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

Do not use this medicine after the ‘EXP’ date shown on the pack.

Store below 25ºC. Protect from sunlight.

Discard the bottle 4 months after opening, even if there is syrup remaining.
