
Beechams Flu Plus Caplets
Beechams Flu-Plus Caplets are designed to provide effective relief from the major symptoms of colds and flu, helping you feel more comfortable while you recover.
They can help relieve a range of common cold and flu symptoms, including:
Headaches, shivers, aches and pains
Blocked nose and painful sinuses
Catarrh and sore throat
Fatigue and tiredness
Beechams Flu-Plus Caplets contain three active ingredients, each providing targeted relief. Paracetamol is a painkiller that also helps reduce a high temperature associated with fever. Phenylephrine hydrochloride is a decongestant that helps unblock the nose and sinuses, making it easier to breathe. Caffeine acts as a mild stimulant to help relieve feelings of fatigue and tiredness.
Dosage
Adults aged 16 years and over, including the elderly:
Take 2 caplets every 4 to 6 hours as required.
Do not take more than 8 caplets (4 doses) in any 24-hour period.
Do not take doses more frequently than every 4 hours.
Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Do not take for more than 7 days without consulting your doctor.
Avoid consuming excessive amounts of caffeine from drinks such as coffee and tea. High caffeine intake may cause difficulty sleeping, shaking or an uncomfortable feeling in the chest.
Ingredients
Active ingredients: Paracetamol 500 mg, phenylephrineHydrochloride 5 mg and caffeine 25 mg.
Other ingredients Starch pregel, maizestarch, povidone, potassium sorbate (E202), sodium laurilsulfate, sunset yellow(E 110), stearic acid, talc, microcrystallinecellulose, hypromellose, macrogol 400,titanium dioxide (E 171) and quinoline yellow lake (E 104).
Warnings
Do not take this medicine if:
You are allergic to paracetamol, phenylephrine, caffeine or any of the other ingredients.
You have kidney or liver problems, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, high blood pressure or heart disease.
You have phaeochromocytoma or glaucoma.
You take certain antidepressants, including tricyclic antidepressants or MAOIs (or have taken MAOIs within the last 2 weeks).
You take beta-blockers such as atenolol.
Do not take this medicine with any other product containing paracetamol, or with other flu, cold or decongestant medicines.
This medicine contains paracetamol. Taking too much paracetamol can cause serious liver damage.
Beechams Flu-Plus Caplets may cause dizziness. If you experience dizziness, do not drive or operate machinery.
Ask your doctor before taking this medicine if you have:
Raynaud’s Phenomenon or another blood vessel condition.
An enlarged prostate.
Heart or circulation problems.
Tell your doctor immediately if you have a severe infection or serious illness, severe kidney problems or sepsis, or if you have malnutrition or chronic alcoholism. Also tell your doctor if you are taking the antibiotic flucloxacillin. In these situations, paracetamol may rarely be associated with a serious condition called metabolic acidosis.
Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Beechams Flu-Plus Caplets if you take other medicines, particularly:
Medicines for nausea, such as metoclopramide or domperidone.
Migraine medicines such as ergotamine or methysergide.
Colestyramine for high cholesterol.
Medicines for high blood pressure.
Appetite suppressants or stimulants.
Antidepressants such as amitriptyline.
Heart medicines such as digoxin.
Blood-thinning medicines such as warfarin.
Flucloxacillin, an antibiotic.
Do not take Beechams Flu-Plus Caplets during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless advised to do so by your doctor.
Storage
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the ‘EXP’ date shown on the pack.
Store below 25ºC. Protect from sunlight.
