Canesten Thrush Cream provides effective treatment and soothing relief of the itching caused by thrush. It can also be used to treat the male partner.
One 20g tube of Canesten Thrush Cream contains Clotrimazole 400mg (2%w/w).
How do I know its thrush?
6 main symptoms:
- Itching
- Swelling
- Redness
- Unusual discharge
- Burning
- Soreness
Thrush doesn’t usually change the pH level and has no odour.
No Stress!
It may feel uncomfortable, but there’s no need to be scared. Thrush is not an STI or a serious condition and in most cases, it can be treated easily and effectively. It is also normal and very common – 3 in 4 women suffer from it at least once during their lifetime and it’s not caused by a lack of hygiene.
How to use
Please read the enclosed leaflet carefully before use.
Wash your hands before and after using the cream.
Apply the cream thinly to affected areas 2 or 3 times a day and rub in gently.
Treatment should be continued for up to one week after treating the internal infection in women and for two weeks in men.
If symptoms persist consult your doctor.

Medical advice should be sought if this is the first time you have experienced symptoms of candidal vaginitis.
Before using Canesten Thrush External Cream medical advice must be sought if any of the following are applicable:
- more than two infections of candidal vaginitis in the last six months
- previous history of a sexually transmitted disease or exposure to partner with sexually transmitted disease
- pregnancy or suspected pregnancy
- aged under 16 or over 60 years
- known hypersensitivity to imidazoles or other vaginal antifungal products
Canesten Thrush External Cream should not be used you have any of the following symptoms whereupon medical advice should be sought:
- irregular vaginal bleeding
- abnormal vaginal bleeding or a blood-stained discharge
- vulval or vaginal ulcers, blisters or sores
- lower abdominal pain or dysuria
- any adverse events such as redness, irritation or swelling associated with the treatment
- fever or chills
- nausea or vomiting
- diarrhoea
- foul smelling vaginal discharge
This product contains cetostearyl alcohol, which may cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).
Ingredients
Active ingredient: Clotrimazole 400mg (2%w/w).
Also contains: Benzyl alcohol, polysorbate 60, sorbitan stearate, cetyl palmitate, cetostearyl alcohol, octyldodecanol and purified water (see the enclosed leaflet for further information).
