Eumovate is a medical steroid treatment that is used for skin conditions such as Eczema and Dermatitis specifically. This cream helps to relieve the inflammation and irritation that is seen in dry skin. Since this treatment is a steroid, it contains active ingredients like clobetasol butyrate 0.05%. The steroid medicine has an instant reaction to your body cells, especially when the infected areas are inflamed and distressed. This way the cream will stop the skin from further inflammation and your symptoms should decrease after a few days of using Eumovate. Depending on your skin condition, if you have a long-term infection then you would have to use this treatment consistently for a longer duration. If however, there is no change to your symptoms then, speak to your GP for a more effective resolution.
How to use
You would need to apply Eumovate twice a day, avoid any contact with your eyes and make sure you wash your hands after you use the cream. When applying, try to use a small amount as the cream itself is already quite a thick substance so it would be enough to cover the affected areas. After the cream has been absorbed, an emollient (moisturizing) cream such as Diprobase or Cetraben can be applied to the same area if necessary. Since Eumovate is a standard steroid medication, you should start to use it less once your symptoms have improved. When you are at this stage, is common to replace the Eumovate cream with a normal emollient product as this will help maintain your healthy skin cells long term. If however, your symptoms do not respond to the medication then, contact your doctor and advise for an alternative option to the cream. Be careful not to abruptly stop the steroid cream as it can cause your skin condition to relapse.
Side effects & Caution
Side effects are common in any medication so don’t be surprised if you experience the following symptoms: hair growth, itching, rash, etc. If you experience any tenacious side effects then you should stop the treatment and contact your doctor. Keep in mind the product will contain a leaflet, including all the necessary information needed to take the medication appropriately, i.e. vital side effects to be aware of and what the product does on your skin, etc.
