Anbesol Adult Strength Gel contains the active ingredient, Lidocaine hydrochloride, which is a local anaesthetic, helping to sooth pain in the mouth and around the affected area. It is easy to use and provides a rapid and powerful form of temporary relief for those who suffer from recurrent mouth ulcers and denture irritation. 

The two other active ingredients, cetylpyridinium chloride and chlorocresol help kill the bacteria in the mouth and protect against infection.

How to use

Adults, the elderly and children 12 years and over:
  • Wash and dry hands before use.
  • Apply a small amount of Anbesol Adult Strength Gel to a clean fingertip.
  • One application should be sufficient to obtain temporary pain relief.
  • Use up to four times a day.
Not for use in children under 12 years.
Keep all medicines out of reach and sight from children.

Side effects & Cautions

Like all medicines, this medicine may cause side effects, although not everybody
gets them.
• Allergic reactions (eg difficulty breathing, rash or itch).
• Some people have reported suffering from ulcers.
• Dermatitis (inflammation of the skin that can cause red, itchy and scaly skin)

If you are pregnant, then you should contact your doctor before using. Anbesol Gel is fine to use if you are breastfeeding.

Ingredients

Active ingredients: Lidocaine hydrochloride 2.0%w/w, Chlorocresol 0.1%w/w and cetylpyridinium chloride 0.02%w/w. 
Other Ingredients: Alcohol, clove oil, glycerol, hydroxypropyl cellulose, sodium
saccharin, Ponceau 4R (E124) and purified water.
