Sildenafil 50mg is an effective treatment for erectile dysfunction.
It belongs to the class of drugs known as PDE5 inhibitors and these work by relaxing the blood vessels in your penis, allowing blood to flow into it when you are sexually aroused and resulting in an erection.
Sildenafil will not give you an instant erection – you must be sexually aroused for it to work.
Sildenafil has been proven to help men with erectile dysfunction get a hard erection and maintain it for sexual intercourse
Who is it for?
Sildenafil is used to treat erectile dysfunction in males only – it must not be taken by females.
There are certain medical conditions which mean sildenafil is not suitable for you (contact us to discuss alternatives)
Some of these conditions include (but are not limited to)
· If you are allergic to any of the ingredients in the tablets
· Suffer from uncontrolled/severe heart conditions
· Recent history of stroke or heart attack
· Low blood pressure
· If you are taking any nitrate containing medications (GTN spray, or nitrates in other forms such as ‘poppers’)
How to Take
Sildenafil tablets come in 25mg, 50mg and 100mg strengths..
The recommended starting dose is usually 50mg taken approximately 30 to 60 minutes before sexual activity and then adjusted to 25-100mg according to the response.
You should not take more than one tablet of sildenafil in any 24 hour period, nor should it be mixed with other erectile dysfunction treatments.
Taking sildenafil – some practical tips
1. Get in the mood!
Sildenafil by itself will not give you a spontaneous erection – you need to have adequate sexual stimulation for it to work so engage in foreplay just as you would had you not take any sildenafil.
2. Don’t rush!
Sildenafil takes about 30-60 minutes to start working, it remains effective for about 4-5 hours from administration so don’t rush! Remember, you must have adequate sexual stimulation.
3. Eat smart
You can take sildenafil with or without food.
If taken after a meal which is high in fat you may find it takes a little longer to work.
4. Don’t give up
With some men sildenafil may not work the first time you take it, this may be because of a multitude of factors.
If it doesn’t work the first time, just try again on another day – remember, its no more than one tablet in any 24 hour period.
5. Get help if sildenafil still doesn’t work.
If you find after repeat doses sildenafil is still not producing a sufficient erection get in touch with us at QuickMeds for further advice.
Sometimes there are reversible causes of erectile dysfunction which may warrant further investigation, often trying similar medications to sildenafil can produce the desired results.
