The Hepatitis B Immunity anti-body test demonstrates whether you are protected from Hepatitis B. If possible, it’s advised to complete it 1 month after finishing the set of Hep B injections or the booster vaccine. This is because we will be able to have a clear result that effectively portrays your health and well-being. In addition to establishing what level of immunity you have attained; the result will suggest a clear outlook of whether a booster is needed.
If you receive
a negative result, that means you have not developed any antibodies against the
Hepatitis B Antigen. Therefore, a medical professional will suggest taking on
new courses on vaccinations to see a difference in your health.
Due to
confidentiality, we will not inform your GP, instead, we will leave that up to you.
If you think there’s a need to alert your GP then contact your GP right away,
especially if you are experiencing severe symptoms.
How to use
Before
completing the test, wash and dry your hands. Start by removing the lid off the
blood tube, then use the alcohol wipe provided within the kit to clean the tip
of your fingertip. Once the area is cleaned, twist and pull the purple tip off
the lancet, center the tip on your finger, and push done. This will ensure the
fingertip is pricked and blood will start to release from that area. Apply some
pressure to ensure a certain amount of blood is released from the finger into
the tube. Continue to do it until you meet the line on the tube.
Once that’s done,
push the cap back on the tube to avoid any contamination and apply a plaster to
your finger. Place the blood tube back into the box and fill out any details on
the form provided. Then all you must do is send it off with the pre-paid
envelope and wait for your results.
Side effects & Caution
Typically, there won’t be severe side effects as the test kit is straightforward to understand so the most common thing that should possibly occur is soreness.
However, if you do
experience severe symptoms then be aware of the following factors:
Headaches, sore
throat, dizziness, swelling, bruises, nausea, etc. We advise you to speak to
your doctor directly if your symptoms are getting worse. They will be the best
available help as they will ultimately understand what has happened and how to
avoid any other side effects from occurring.
Caution: Generally, when experiencing side effects, they vary depending on the person so if you either experience abrupt physical changes or an allergic reaction, then the best cause of action is to call your GP and seek urgent medical attention. Also, be aware that this test is not for those who currently have a Hepatitis B infection.
Only suitable for ages 18 and over.
